Girl with Dragon Tattoo – First Trailer – Kickass Background Score

Here’s a kickass trailer from this years ‘feel-bad’ Christmas release. First of the Millenium Trilogy –  ‘Girl with Dragon Tattoo’ starring Rooney Mara as the one and only Lisbeth Salander. If you haven’t read the 3 books by late swedish author Stieg Larsson then go and read them now.

My reviews of all 3 books are on this blog, find them.

First of the movie ‘Girl with Dragon Tattoo’ is directed by David Fincher, of Social Network, and  releases on 21st December 2011. The movie also stars Bond star Daniel Craig as the journalist Mikael Blomqvist and Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander looks perfect.

The trailer is cut wonderfully giving you the entire movie in split second shots and it is set to the Trent Reznor and Karen O’s cover of Led Zeppelin’s Immigrant Song. Oh what a background score !!!

I just cant get it out of my head.

Dhinka Chinka Vs. Ringa Ringa – War of the Item Numbers

Here is the new item song ‘Dhinka Chinka’ from upcoming film ‘Ready’ featuring Salman Khan and Asin. The song has a nice beat and rhthym and has all the qualities to be a crowdpuller. Salman with his unique dancing style and colorful background fills up the scene.

Now watch this song called ‘Ringa Ringa’ from Telugu film Arya 2 featuring Allu Arjun. Allu Arjun dances brilliantly and song is far more raunchy version of the fun and dance Hindi one.

The hindi song of course is a straight lift from the Telugu original. Apparently same music director Devi Sri Prasad (DSP) has composed both songs and hence no controversies.

You listen and decide which one’s more funky.

Thayn Thayn – Kickass rap song

Here’s the new rap song from the upcoming film’ Dum Maaro Dum’.

The song is called ‘Thayn Thayn’ and features Abhishek Bachchan in his ACP Kamath avatar from the film, rapping in his succesful ‘Bluffmaster’ style. Preetam has scored the music.

Abhishek had a super succesful R&B song sung by him in his previous Rohan Sippy directed Bluffmaster and to bear the same results he has sung this rap song mainly for the film promotion. Very nice beat and rhythm to hear.

Watch it…

Dum Maaro Dum – Title Track

Here’s the much awaited song ‘ Dum Maarao Dum’ from the upcoming film titled the same. The song is actually called ‘Mit Jaaye Ghum’ and features Deepika Padukone and is set to a remixed version of the original classic tune. The song was released during the India – South Africa game in the ongoing World Cup Cricket at Nagpur

The song set in a smoke filled bar, looks okeyish and Deepika looks hot enough to be called ‘item girl’ now. Hopefully it will do what it is meant to and draw the audience in the movie hall.

Here it is..

Dhamakedar Song – Sadi Galli

Here’s a dhamakedar song from upcoming film ‘Tanu weds Manu’.  The song ‘Sadi Galli’ originally is a Punjabi song sung by Lehmbir Huseinpuri. This song is re-mixed and adapted for the film by Krsna. What makes it special is the up-tempo Bhangra beats and nasal voice. Its going to be super-hit in every Wedding, Sangeet, Baraat kind of scenario. Totally dance-able. The film features Kangna Ranaut and Madhavan but in this song watch out for Deepak Dobariyal and his rap-chik dance steps.

Enjoy the song.

Item Song of 80s – Yeh Din tau Aaata Hai

Today every 2nd hindi film has an Item Number, which usually involves the film’s heroine or some other special dancer / model/ actress or all of that to gyrate to a fast rhythm dance track mainly to lure the hero/ other character of the film. The song usually does not have much relevance to the actual film’s plot although the makers do try their best to fit the song in the narrative of the film. The song is mostly an up tempo, fast beat song with lyrics being little important.

Of course this tradition of Item songs is nothing new and existed long back in our films. Here is one of the track I heard today,  of course have heard it multiple times in the past and enjoyed it too. Today, while hearing it once again, I realized that this was almost an Item song in the film with no actual connection to the film’s story, although it involves the lead stars only but the song is the film’s Item number.

The song in question is ‘Yeh Din tau Aaata Hai’ from the 1983 film Mahaan starring none other than Amitabh Bachchan in a triple role and featuring the best item girls your money can buy in the 80s, Zeenat Aman and Parveen Babi. This song features Big B and Parveen Babi dancing to the rocking  R D Burman tune. The song is sung by Asha Bhosale and R D Burman himself and is a fantastic upbeat number in true sense. You cannot but tap your feet to it.

Asha Bhosale’s catchy voice is matched by RD’s perfect tone and the music is a mix of Arabian and Indian tunes with generous dose of Disco to match the 80s theme.

Enjoy it once again..This song would clearly give Munnis and Sheilas a run for their money, even today.

Sheila ki Jawani – Tees Maar Khan – Item Song

The Item number from the year end release Tees Maar Khan called ‘Sheila ki Jawani’ featuring Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar. The song is sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and music is by Vishal-Shekhar.

Katrina Kaif gives her best possible jhatkas to woo the audience in this item number. In my opinion she is still not match for the ‘Munni’ song though.

New Song -Munni Badnam Huyi – Dabangg

Here’s a new song from the upcoming Salman Khan film ‘Dabangg’. The song is typical ‘item number’ set in a rowdy bar somewhere in northern India amongst all kinds of people you can imagine. It features Malaika Arora Khan as the dancing girl and also features Sonu Sood and Salman Khan himself. It has a catchy tune and is a definite ‘paisa vasool’ item number for the masses. Must say Salman Khan is at his wildest in the song.

I would say this song is this years ‘Dhen Te Nen’ . Listen to it here..

Crazy Song- Bombay se Baroda Tak

Recently came across a crazy Bollywood Song from an old film ‘Rafoo Chakkar’. Actually had seen the song long back but when saw it recently found it really crazy.

The song is from 1975 film ‘Rafoo Chakkar’ starring Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh and features Rishi Kapoor and Paintal singing in a train dressed up in Women’s clothes and they sing in women’s voice too. Must say Rishi Kapoor looks quite cute. The film is a remake of the Hollywood classic ‘Some Like it Hot’ featuring Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon and Jerry Lewis. The film directed by Narinder Bedi was an average success at the box office and has many other melodious songs with music by Kalyanji Anandji and lyrics by Gulshan Bawra.

Although this song takes the cake with its jazzy beats and Asha Bhosale’s high pitched girly voice singing for Rishi Kapoor and Paintal. This has to be a first too, Asha Bhosale singing for a lead actor.

FIFA 2010 Anthem – K’Naan – Waving Flag

This is the song which is not getting out of my head. This is the anthem of the FIFA 2010 World Cup of Soccer to be held in South Africa. The song is by Somalian artist K’Naan and is called Waving Flag

Here are the lyrics of the remix song:

Ooooooh Wooooooh, Ooooooh Wooooooh

Give me freedom, give me fire, give me reason, take me higher
See the champions, take the field now, you define us, make us feel proud
In the streets our heads are lifting, as we lose our inhibition,
Celebration, it surround us, every nations, all around us

Singing forever young, singing songs underneath that sun
rejoice in the beautiful game,
And together at the end of the day.
We all say

When I get older I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a wavin’ flag
When I get older I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a wavin’ flag
So wave your flag, now wave your flag, now wave your flag

Oooohhh, Oooooooooh wooooohh, Oooooooooh wooooohh

Give you freedom, give you fire, give you reason, take you higher
See the champions, take the field now, you define us, make us feel proud
In the streets our heads are lifting, as we lose our inhibition,
Celebration, its around us, every nations, all around us

Singing forever young, singing songs underneath that sun
Lets rejoice in the beautiful game,
And together at the end of the day.
We all say

When I get older I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a wavin’ flag
When I get older I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a wavin’ flag
So wave your flag, now wave your flag, now wave your flag
Now wave your flag (4x)

Oohhoooohh Woooh Ohohooooh Wooohoooh

We all say
When I get older I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a wavin’ flag
When I get older I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a wavin’ flag
So wave your flag, now wave your flag, now wave your flag
Now wave your flag (4x)

Oooooh woowoo ooh Wooo ooohh ooohoh
And everybody will be singing it
Oooooh woowoo ooh Wooo ooohh ooohoh
And we all will be singing it
